Hi, I’m Ros!
an environmental engineer turned blogger from the Caribbean.
I pretty much made a hard left at Slow Living Avenue.

my story…
Growing up, I had so much anxiety to the point of panic attacks, nausea and feeling my entire body trembling. Being on the receiving end of narcissistic abuse didn’t help either. It definitely affected my confidence and mental health.
It’s been a tough journey of acknowledging what happened in the past, being kind and validating myself while reminding my body that I am safe in the present.
Being child-free not by choice also has its challenges. I’ve had grief that came in waves versus stages. Some days it was the heaviest thing and, on other days, distractions made it disappear.
It took a LOT of work but life has certainly changed for the better. Now in my late 30s, I’m no longer as intensely anxious and my nervous system feels far more regulated than ever before. The grief feels like a distant memory too.
I tried so many techniques to calm my nervous system and many of the “trendy” methods never worked for me. I’m Hindu and meditation, humming, chanting prayers and yoga are part of my religious practices (and have been for my entire life).

But they didn’t really help me to relax and reset.
What helped?
Different things at different times…
Journaling helped my racing mind. Affirmations like “I am safe” and “I deserve peace” turned some internal switch off that made me instantly calm in moments when I was actually safe. Breathing out longer than breathing in worked in high anxiety situations. Playing lofi chill music and spa music helped when I felt overstimulated.
Dancing was the most effective for everything
though I would say my dancing is better described as flailing.
With all my experiences and everything I’ve tried, I wanted a space to document what works, what could work and the science behind why.
That’s where Sweet Kind Life comes in. It is my space to share everything about how I approach..
slow living, balance and self growth.
