Birthday solo date ideas

1. Book a hotel for the day

Which hotel have you always wanted to visit? Book them for your birthday and enjoy an amazing complimentary breakfast, poolside cocktails, and room service. Book their spa services, sunbathe by the pool, enjoy their sauna, and have concierge plan some fun activities for you.

Or simply do nothing in the room! Binge watch your favorite shows, people watch from your balcony, and just exist in luxury (maybe in a beautiful kimono robe).

2. Schedule a workout

Reconnect with your body on your birthday with a great workout. Whether it’s a yoga class or Pilates or one-on-one with a trainer, exercise is a perfect way to get happy hormones and endorphins flowing through your body.

3. Enjoy a scenic stroll

You can also try running or walking as a form of exercise to get those endorphins. Take a walk along a scenic street or waterfront. Window shop and be mindful of the beautiful sights and sounds. Feel connected with the community and enjoy the beauty all around you.

4. Visit the spa

It’s your birthday! And it’s the perfect time to get pampered. Book a relaxing full body massage. Try hot stones or aromatherapy treatments. Body scrubs and mud baths are also great options. Of course, there are the classics like facials, manicures and pedicures.

You can always have a spa day at home too! Soak in the tub with a wonderful bubble bath. Enjoy an everything shower. Use body scrubs, dry brushes, lotions and oils to exfoliate and hydrate your skin. I love to use Torriden dive in products as part of my self care routine!

You deserve to feel relaxed and rejuvenated on your birthday!

5. Book a consult

Have you been putting off making an appointment to see a doctor, dermatologist, or cosmetic surgeon? Maybe it’s time to book the consult and explore what they can do for you. Consider options like acupuncture, cupping or even Botox.

6. Have fun shopping

It’s your special day and you deserve to splurge. Visit your favorite store and pick up nice things for yourself. What have you always wanted to get? What hobbies have you wanted to try? Now is the time to get some great supplies!

Retail malls, big box stores, thrift shops, antique stores, online, and even your mom’s closet are perfect for shopping. Window shopping is fun too!

I got the cutest sand art decor piece for my desk recently! It’s mesmerizing.

7. Get out of town

Solo travel is a great birthday solo date idea! What’s on your bucket list for places to visit? There’s no better day to do bucket list things than on your birthday! Book that trip, hop on the plane and go exploring. Spend your special day somewhere amazing and create beautiful, empowered memories.

8. Dine at your favorite restaurant

If getting out of town is too much, how about making dinner reservations at your favorite restaurant? Get dolled up and enjoy a solo birthday lunch or dinner date. Order delicious food, take photos to mark the occasion, tell the server it’s your birthday and enjoy some free cake too!

9. Visit a cute café

Spend a couple hours at a cute new coffee shop that just opened in the area. Grab a cup of delicious coffee and some pastries, sit by the window and admire the hustle and bustle outside. Or enjoy reading or working on your latest project.

It’s even better if the cafe has a unique theme like an art cafe or pet cafe. Immerse yourself in the experience and have fun!

10. Have a picnic

Grab the pastries and drinks to go and find a cute spot in the park for a picnic. Lounge on the grass and be mindful in the beautiful green space. Listen to the birds, the leaves rustling in the wind and the distant city sounds.

11. Order food you love

If eating out is too much, how about staying in and ordering your favorite food and dessert. You can use UberEats for just about anything. You can even preorder your birthday cake from the bakery you love and have them deliver it for your special day!

Enjoy the meal curled up in bed while binge watching the latest hit. How fun!

12. Be a sloth

It might not be one of the first birthday solo date ideas you think of, but how about doing nothing for your birthday? Just lie in bed, be a sloth, enjoy bed rotting, and completely relax without thinking too much.

Just exist, nap, read, and breathe!

13. Try birthday journaling

Whether you are at the fancy hotel, cute cafe, or curled up in bed, journaling is a great activity to do on your big day. Check out my birthday reflection questions that deep dive into the birthdays of the past and present and explore how you would like future birthdays to look like.

You can also get these gifts for yourself to start a new birthday journaling tradition:

14. Write love notes to yourself

Besides journaling and reflecting, consider writing love notes and love letters to yourself. What did you love about yourself as a child? How about now? What makes you proud to be you today? Write about it! Acknowledge all your strengths, validate how much you have overcome, and recognize how truly glorious you are as a person.

15. Make a vision board

If you enjoy manifesting and envisioning your future, create a vision board for the upcoming birth year. Who do you want to be a year from now? What do you want to have? Or change? Or accomplish?

Write it down, get into the details. Ask the universe for help, create a plan and take the steps needed to make it happen. Check out my post on how to become the person you want to be for more questions and guidance.

16. Enjoy a class

When it comes to birthday solo date ideas, this one is my favorite since I love learning new things. Sign up for a cooking class or baking or pottery or painting or candle making. Try out a new dance class or one for perfume making.

Express your creativity in a way you always wanted to try. The options here are endless. You can do one-on-one classes or join a group and meet new people. Have fun and enjoy the experience.

17. Immerse yourself in a museum

Lover of art, interesting facts or history? You’ll likely enjoy time at the latest art gallery or history museum. Get lost in thought while viewing unique paintings. Mull over artifacts and learn about ancient cultures. Marvel at gorgeous rocks, meteorites, dinosaur bones and new exhibits.

Being a solo date, you get to move at your own pace and take as long as you want at each item.

18. Enjoy the animals

Moo Deng and Pesto aren’t the only cute animals on the planet! Visit your local zoo, aquarium and animal sanctuary and admire all the animals on display. Volunteer for feedings if they are available and have fun exploring the zoo.

19. Find peace in nature

You can also enjoy the animals while hiking, birdwatching or strolling through nearby gardens. Spending time in nature is great for resetting and grounding yourself in the present moment. Bird songs are also relaxing as are listening to water sounds like a water fountain, waterfall or babbling stream.

20. Visit the beach

Head to the beach for a great solo birthday date. Have fun swimming, snorkel if there are any reefs nearby, sunbathe (while wearing sunscreen!), grab a cocktail at a nearby beach bar, and lounge on beach chairs with a good book.

Listen to the waves hitting the shore, soak up the beauty around you and take home a seashell or interesting stone as a souvenir of a beautiful, relaxing birthday.

21. Get the adrenaline pumping

If you are an adrenaline junkie, plan an adventure-filled birthday solo date. It could be sky diving, bungee jumping, snowboarding, zip-lining, surfing, or rock climbing.

For smaller steps out of your comfort zone, visit your local theme park and have fun on the rollercoaster rides. Or if you are close to water, try kayaking or paddleboarding.

22. Enjoy a movie

For a movie buff, enjoying a new blockbuster at the cinema is the perfect solo date idea. Grab popcorn and some snacks, make yourself comfortable, and get lost in a great story.

Of course, you can skip the cinema and have a movie marathon at home. Stream your favorites, curl up in bed and enjoy.

23. Take in a show

A movie isn’t the only type of show to enjoy on your birthday. Find a great concert or music festival on the day. Look for local comedy shows or theatre productions. Get fancy with a ticket to the ballet, opera or Broadway.

24. Be a model for a day

Book a makeup artist and a photographer and be a model for the day. Dress up in your finest, visit scenic spots, and pose for fantastic photos capturing your essence on your birthday. You can get some in-studio photos done that make you look powerful and professional or use fun props for cutesy snaps.

25. Volunteer for a good cause

Giving back is a beautiful way to honor your birthday. Donate to your local food bank or favorite charity. Volunteer at a nearby women’s shelter or homeless one. Give your time or resources to programs that can help at-risk kids and people in need.
