These start of the week journal prompts are all about planning out the upcoming week. They are great for setting goals, reminding you about self care and keeping you accountable.

Start of the week journal prompts

  • Are there any special days coming up? Birthdays? Holidays?
  • What phase of your cycle will you be in this week?
  • What does this phase usually look like for you? Are you more energetic? Or is bed rotting better?
  • List 5 things you plan on doing this week to honor your body and the phase you are in.
  • Give the week a theme (e.g. adventure week, self care week, slow living week).

Goal setting!

  • What is 1 tough task you’ve been putting off that you can tackle this week?
  • What’s the strategy for achieving that tough task? Can a friend help? Would sending an email asking for info help? Is it better to delegate?
  • What are your top 5 goals for the week?
  • Are there any new habits or systems you want to start within the next 7 days?
  • What can you do that would help you stick to the new habit or system?

What’s success?

  • Define the lowest bar for a successful week. Define the highest bar.
  • How do you plan on rewarding yourself if your week is successful?
  • If your week doesn’t go according to plan, what can you do to regroup?
  • What would be the best way to comfort and soothe yourself this week?
  • You are a week in the future reflecting on the last 7 days. It’s been the best week ever! Describe it. What happened? Speak it into existence!

Journal prompts for the week

  • Write a great quote that’ll motivate you this week. (One I heard recently was motivation comes from movement!)
  • Create an affirmation for starting the week.
  • Do you have any fun workouts or activities planned this week?
  • How can you add some joy to your week? Flower sprinkles? A fun latte?
  • What are 3 self care activities you plan on doing after work?

Work life balance!

  • Which friends are you planning on calling or messaging this week?
  • What about family? Surprise your mom and say hi!
  • What’s a creative project you can do this week? Color or paint? Move around your furniture?
  • What could you do to step out of your comfort zone this weekend? Even a little baby step will do!
  • How many smiles and hugs can you give yourself and others this week? How many do you think you’ll get in return?
