Morning journal prompts to start the day
- How does your body feel at the moment? Do you feel rested?
- Are you comfortable in this moment?
- Does any part of your body hurt?
- Can you remember what you dreamt about?
- What do you think your dreams are telling you?
- How do you feel mentally? Refreshed or stressed?
- What’s bothering you the most?
- What can you do today that would ease your mind?
- What did you do yesterday that could have helped your sleep? Teas? Aromatherapy?
- Is there anything that affected your sleep? Late night coffee maybe?
- Is there anything you can do today to make tonight’s sleep even more restful?
- Are you happy with your sleep hygiene? (Here are a couple great articles on sleep hygiene from the Aussie CCI and Healthline.)

Let’s talk about yesterday
- What’s something that really made you happy yesterday?
- What was the highlight of the day? And the week?
- Is there anything you would do differently from yesterday? Or prefer it didn’t happen?
- What can you do today to make things better?
- What did you learn yesterday that completely blew your mind?
- Did you have fun yesterday?
- Who did you have fun with?
- Did you feel negative around anyone yesterday? Sensed any energy vampires? Narcissists?
- List 5 things that you were grateful for this week.
- Did you celebrate your wins yesterday?
- Is there any habit you tried yesterday that you want to continue?
- Is there any relaxation technique you tried recently that just didn’t work for you? Why do you think that is?
Daily morning journal prompts
- What are you looking forward to the most today? What are you excited about?
- Who do you really want to touch base with, just to say hi?
- Do you think you’ll feel gratitude today? What do you think would make you feel grateful? (You can replace gratitude with mindful in the prompt!)
- List 2 fun things you are going to do today to make your inner child happy?
- How are you going to self care today? (besides what you’re doing in #28)
- Is there anything you’re planning today to make someone else smile? If yes, give the deets! If no, what could you do?
- Will you show yourself kindness, love and empathy today? (report back tomorrow on how it felt!)
- What do you want to work on unlearning today? Shame, judgment, bad habits, scarcity mindset?
- If you can try out a new habit today, what would it be? Is there anything you want to continue?
- What about a new relaxation technique, which one are you going to experiment with?
- Name 3 things that make you smile immediately when you think about them.
- Create an affirmation for the day! (if you need help, I have so many affirmations to choose from!)
Morning journal prompts for productivity
- Define what success looks like today. (Crawling out of bed on really hard days is enough!)
- What are your top 3 must-do’s for the day?
- How do you plan on achieving them? Can you delegate anything?
- Set an intention for the day.
- Do you have a plan to get quick dopamine fixes to stay motivated and productive?
- Is there anything you’re procrastinating on? Why do you think that is?
- Would reframing the mind block help you overcome the obstacle?
- Can you leverage productive procrastination today to get other important things done?
- How are you planning on minimizing distractions today? (app timers work really well for me!)
- When last did you take time off? Do you think you are due for more?
- Do you expect to face any challenges today?
- How are you planning on tackling the challenges?
- Have you scheduled fun, light things to do after the challenging things? Maybe have a quick coffee date with your bff? Or a cheat snack? (Celebrate accomplishing the hard stuff!)
- If it’s tough to be productive today, how would you want to spend the day? (We’ve all been there! Show yourself compassion and grace!)
- If you’ve finished your to-do list and achieved your goals, what would you plan to do next? (This isn’t about performance punishment but using the momentum and energy while you have it!)
